UCC Lecturer And T.A dead In Road Accident.

A fatal road accident has claimed the lives of two people, with five others injured at Third Ridge Junction along the Accra–Cape Coast Highway earlier this morning.

The incident occurred around 7:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service, Cape Coast Regional Headquarters, rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

A Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang (Dr. KK), and his Teaching Assistant, Peter Amoako Asmah, have sadly died in this fatal road accident.

The two were reportedly traveling to Winneba for an official engagement when an articulated truck lost control and veered off the road, crashing into their parked vehicle. Despite attempts to avoid danger, their car was crushed, trapping both occupants.

Preliminary reports point to loss of control, possibly linked to speeding or mechanical issues, as the cause of the crash. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are yet to release further official details, including the truck’s registration number.

The crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a HOWO tipper truck. Firefighters had to rescue the Corolla driver who was trapped in the vehicle, but sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the Corolla was heading toward Accra when a pick-up vehicle attempted a dangerous overtake. In response, the Corolla driver slowed down. The tipper truck approaching from the opposite direction reportedly swerved to avoid the situation but lost control while trying to return to its lane, crashing into the Corolla.

All victims were transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment and further care.

A heartbreaking reminder for all drivers to stay alert and avoid risky overtaking on our roads.
