Kumasi traders blame NPP over stalled Central Market Phase 2, Commend Mahama’s Commitment to Completion

Traders from several markets in Kumasi, including Bantama, Race Course, Central Market, Kejetia, Abinkyi, and Asafo Market, have expressed disappointment over the stalled Kejetia-Central Market Phase 2 project and the Krofrom Market.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi on behalf of Queen Mothers and traders,on Wednesday, Madam Grace Adjei Darko, popularly known as Nana Sarkina, said the group finds it difficult to understand why the projects were not completed during the eight years of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

She contrasted this with the first phase of the Kejetia Market, which she noted was constructed within four years under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by former President John Mahama and former KMA Chief Executive Kojo Bonsu.

Madam Adjei Darko described the existing Kejetia Market as a major source of income for traders in Kumasi.

She expressed gratitude to President John Mahama for showing commitment to complete the abandoned Krofrom and Central Market projects.

She appealed to fellow traders to exercise restraint and allow him time to fulfill his promise to the people of Kumasi.

Madam Adjei Darko also urged traders to refrain from insulting the President, noting that such acts go against ethics and biblical principles.
