Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, returned to Ghana on Thursday, May 22, following a period of recuperation from ill health.
Speaking for the first time since her return, she expressed both gratitude and renewed determination as she resumes her official duties.
“I’m very happy to be back,” she said with a smile. “A lot has happened, and there’s still so much more to do. But I believe that through our collective will, we can accomplish even more for our country.”
She gave thanks to God for His guidance and mercy throughout her recovery, and also acknowledged the efforts of her medical team. “God’s mercies have been infinite, as always, and I’m truly grateful. I also appreciate the medical professionals for their insight and timely interventions.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also offered heartfelt thanks to President John Dramani Mahama, recalling his swift response during a critical moment. “To my boss on that day, I don’t even know where you appeared from, but you showed up and immediately set everything in motion. I’m deeply thankful.”
Her return was marked by a warm welcome at the airport, led by President Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama. Also present were Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and other senior government officials.
